Greenberg Traurig has bolstered its real estate practice in Tokyo with the arrival of a four-lawyer team from White & Case.
Mizuho Yamada, who previously headed White & Case’s Japan real estate practice, and colleague and partner Ayako Kawano have both joined Greenberg Traurig’s Tokyo office as real estate shareholders.
As part of the four-strong team, White & Case’s Tokyo-based counsel Kazuo Kasai has also joined Greenberg Traurig as a local partner, while associate Hiroshi Hara has been hired as a counsel.
Richard A. Rosenbaum, Greenberg Traurig’s executive chairman, said: “Recognising the opportunities that growing markets such as Japan present for sophisticated real estate professionals and investors, Greenberg Traurig is focused on attracting top-tier legal talent to strategically expand our service offerings worldwide and help clients succeed.”
Greenberg Traurig has been strengthening its real estate law capability in Japan in recent years, having added Orrick’s former Tokyo real estate team head Yuko Ino and real estate and securitisation attorney Koh Ueda in June last year.
