Recent polls show that Thomas Massie is probably going to get beaten by one of Trump’s hand-picked candidates, Ed Gallrein, whose only qualification is his sycophantic loyalty to Der Fuhrer. IOW, another Republican is going down to a Trumpist, in what seems to be a cascade of failure for logic, intelligence, and compassion, not to mention good government.
However, I see a silver lining here, and it’s pretty simple: by endorsing candidates to run against people he dislikes, Trump is in effect putting himself and his childish need for revenge on the ballot. With his approval rating now in the low 30s and heading downward, it could be that his endorsements are actually a curse that will sink his yes-men and destroy what’s left of the GOP.
I sincerely hope I’m right, but nothing is certain. However, I don’t think his inserting himself into Every. Last. Single. Thing. In. This. Godforsaken. Country. is the flex he thinks it is.
