May might just be the busiest month of the year for members of our industry, especially those who will be heading to Las Vegas for Jewelry Week. Between graduations, Mother’s Day, weddings, and the frenzy of the upcoming trade shows, the month carries an energy that feels a bit like spring and summer’s answer to the winter holidays.
Blame it on Vegas if you must, but my inbox this month was notably light on fully unveiled jewels and exceptionally rich in teasers. Designers and brands are carefully preparing to debut their latest creations on the show floor, and while I’ve been lucky enough to catch a few sneak peeks, many exciting pieces are being kept under wraps until showtime. The secrecy only adds to the excitement.
That anticipation is part of what makes the journey to Las Vegas so special each year. Like beautifully wrapped gifts waiting beneath a tree, there’s a thrill in wondering what extraordinary jewels, unexpected trends, and imaginative designs are waiting to be uncovered once the showcases finally open.
