Eamon Murphy continues winning medals after a great run in the national masters cross country which was held in Dundalk on Sunday last.

The 57-year-old North Sligo runner was part of a four man club team that competed in the 7k race in heavy mucky conditions at the Dundalk Institute of Technology grounds.

Murphy won national individual medals in outdoor and indoor track competitions in the last 6 months and this weekend he added a national cross country individual silver medal to his growing collection.

The Sligo based doctor showed great strength and determination as he battled the opposition and heavy conditions finishing 52nd overall and 2nd in the over 55 category.

His clubmate Craig Brennan finished 58th overall and 6th in the over 50 category.

Alan Wallace finished 135th and 30th in the over 50 category and Jimmy Currid finished 179th and 9th in the over 60 category.

The team finished 7th in the over 50 team rankings in a highly competitive competition
