Platinum-Selling 90s Band Teases Upcoming Reunion and New Music

Are you ready for a dose of nostalgia?

Irish hitmakers, The Corrs, who dominated the pop music scene in the 1990s, going platinum in multiple countries, including the US, have confirmed they’ve got new music in the pipeline. The group, comprised of Andrea, Sharon, Caroline, and Jim Corr (all siblings), was recently honored with “a special mural, exhibition and civic reception for their services to music,” per The Sun.

Now, they’re looking to recreate the success that made them a household name just before the turn of the millennium.

“We’ve been doing a lot of different types of things the last few years, and we are recording another album, which I have to say is a real surprise to us, actually,” Caroline, the band’s drummer, said during a recent interview, via The Sun. “Because you know, obviously, we’ve worked together for so many years, being family, and we always think, oh my God, will we ever do another record?”

Caroline continued by admitting that the group is focused on getting the new tracks finished in the near future.

“Every time we go in, we start it, and before we go we think, oh, this would be no problem,” she continued. “We’ll just get in there, we’ll do a couple of songs, and then inevitably it turns into something else. And we’ve just decided to keep going with this, and hopefully we’ll get it finished at some point.”

According to Spotify, The Corrs still draw over 4.1 million listeners monthly. ‘Breathless’ remains the group’s most popular song on the streaming platform, earning 294.3 million plays since Spotify’s launch.

‘Runaway’ sits second on the band’s most popular list, earning 128.2 million plays. ‘What Can I Do’ rounds out the top three with 83.6 million.

The Corrs’ return will undoubtedly provide a nostalgic boost for those in their late 40s, 50s, and even 60s. Their fan base is clearly still engaged with their work and would undoubtedly welcome a return of a familiar sound. Nostalgia has a way of generating significant buzz among a generation.

“It’s great, it’s been brilliant to actually go back in and write it again,” Caroline said.

There is currently no defined timeline for when the new music will be released. However, a generation of pop fans will now be waiting for further updates.
