Man arrested after house fire at property in Kendal


A man has been arrested following a house fire in Kendal earlier today (June 2), the police have said.

Cumbria Police has said it ‘arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life’ after a blaze at a property on Kirkland this morning.

The man was taken to hospital immediately after his arrest, but was later moved into custody, where he currently remains, officers said.

It comes after Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service were called to a report of a house fire at a property on Kirkland at 8.17am.

Fire crews evacuated one person from the property before extinguishing the blaze.

Multiple emergency services could be seen in attendance, including three fire engines, two police vehicles and an ambulance crew.

The fire service said crews were at the scene for an estimated 45 minutes.
