Chesapeake Real Estate Group Recruits Brian Kelly as Vice President, Asset Management

Chesapeake Real Estate Group (CREG), a privately-held, vertically-integrated commercial real estate development, investment, and brokerage firm, has selected Brian Kelly as Vice President, Asset Management. He brings more than 30 years of diversified experience in the business, commercial real estate, and collegiate athletics sector to this position.

In his new role with CREG, Kelly will oversee the day-to-day asset management function for a more than three million square foot portfolio of commercial office, flex/office and warehouse/industrial space situated primarily in the Maryland region. Specific duties include the supervision of on-site asset management services, tenant relations, managing third-party contractors, and preserving the value of the portfolio, as well as pursuing new third party management agreement opportunities.

Kelly will also be involved in leasing and tenant renewal activities for CREG’s portfolio of properties, as well as assist with acquisition and sales opportunities and the due diligence process.

He has more than 17 years of direct commercial real estate experience gained from his roles with Deutsche Bank/RREEF Real Estate and Ryan Commercial as Vice President. Kelly handled a variety of activities with those two companies including the asset management, marketing, leasing, and investment management of flex/office and industrial properties.

His career pivoted to collegiate athletics where he most recently served as Assistant Coach for the Stanford University women’s lacrosse team. Kelly also functioned as Assistant Coach for The Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland Baltimore County men’s lacrosse teams, as well as Head Coach for the Goucher College men’s lacrosse teams, among other positions.

“Brian brings extensive commercial real estate and asset management experience to our organization, and he represents the ideal candidate to oversee the protocols and processes we have established which delivers value to our tenants,” stated Jim Lighthizer, President of CREG. “He understands the importance of establishing and strengthening relationships in the industry, and honed his communication, leadership and organization skills on the athletic field with several high-profile positions. We look forward to his contributions to our team’s acquisition, asset management, disposition and leasing activities.”

Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Education from Goucher College. He played lacrosse both collegiately and professionally.
