Comedian Moshe Kasher announces cancer diagnosis in Father’s Day post

In a 12-slide post, Kasher said he discovered a bump on his tonsil while working on a new Judd Apataow movie in Savannah, later finding out it was cancer. Shortly after a medical procedure was performed on his throat, Kasher was then diagnosed with HPV-positive tonsil cancer, which is highly curable, he said in his post.

Kasher said he would find out in the coming weeks if he would need radiation.

“This has been the most terrifying and consciousness-consuming experience of my life,” he said in his post. My life has been terror mediation, tears and medical planning (Oh, and 12 hour days on set pitching jokes). I truly cannot believe I managed to work an entire movie while dealing with this. But Judd could not have been a more kind, supportive and nurturing friend all while on the verge of a five hour, energy-overdose from his terrifying habit.”

While affirming that his wife, other famed comedian Natasha Leggero, did not give him HPV, he said the couple discussed his recent diagnosis on an episode of their podcast “The Endless Honeymoon,” which was recorded prior to being driven to the hospital for his procedure.

“Get checked and vaccinate your damn kids,” Kasher said while noting his type of cancer is common among men under 55. “Work out your RFK anxieties on the measles if you must. Trust me, you do not want your kids to go through this. As for going through this, I am, I will continue (and) I will get better. I’m so grateful I have a life that’s worth living and a kid to raise this Father’s Day.”

Kasher said it is unclear when he will return on stage or when he will continue his podcast with his wife.
