Barnsley-based Bartec Municipal Technologies (BMT), a provider of integrated software, professional services and hardware for local authorities, has been acquired by Skoyen Software.
The deal sees BMT partner with Towcester-based Skoyen, a long-term investor in business-critical B2B software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies, positioning the business for its next phase of growth through investment in AI-first technology, improved service efficiency and development of new services.
The acquisition also marks the next stage of BMT’s growth, providing the business with additional investment and strategic support to accelerate innovation and expand its market presence.
Founded more than 30 years ago, BMT, under the stewardship of Colin Webb (founder) and Tim Hobbs (CEO), offers municipal technology, helping more than 100 local authorities modernise frontline services through its flagship software platform – Collective.
Translink Corporate Finance acted as lead advisor to the shareholders of BMT, with Clarion (Legals) and BHP (Transaction Tax) also advising on the deal.
The Translink Corporate Finance advisory team comprised Matt Scott, Hamish Morrison, Aaron Lowery, Luke Harrower and Charlotte Chaplin, with support from its specialist Transaction Tax (Dean Pearson and Ryan Wilkinson) and SPA Advisory (Emma Oakley) teams.
Scott, partner at Translink Corporate Finance UK, said: “There continues to be strong demand from both domestic and international investors for high-quality UK businesses with resilient revenues and clear strategic importance, and BMT is an excellent example of this.
“It has been a pleasure working with Colin, Tim and the wider BMT management team to deliver this successful outcome.
“We look forward to seeing the next phase of growth delivered with the support of the Skoyen team.”
Colin Webb, founder of BMT, said: “I have been working with Translink for over five years, and their support has proven invaluable.
“I am confident that from the process that they have led we have identified the right partner for the business and I look forward to seeing BMT continue to thrive with Skoyen’s support.”
