Firms expand Nigeria’s real estate frontier with launch of

To promote transparency and boost investment in Nigeria’s property sector, M.I. Okoro & Associates and QShelter Ltd have launched Real Estate Today, a weekly television magazine programme that will air on NTA Network, Arise Television, Channels TV and TVC.
Speaking at the launch in Lagos, the Founding Partner of M.I. Okoro & Associates, Mr Meckson Innocent Okoro, said the initiative followed the successful partnership between the two firms, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 30, 2025, for the marketing of major housing projects, including Renewed Hope Estate in Karsana, Abuja; Janguza Estate in Kano; and the 2004 Estate along the Lekki Coastal Road, Lagos.

According to him, sustained interaction with the public revealed a major gap in access to reliable information on real estate and environmental issues, particularly on television.

He noted that while newspapers devote space to property matters, there has been no dedicated television platform providing consistent education and authoritative information on the sector.

“That is why M.I. Okoro & Associates and QShelter Ltd considered it necessary to launch Real Estate Today on television in its first phase. It will later be expanded to radio as a weekly programme covering real estate and environmental issues.

“We see this selfless project as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility to support government efforts in bridging the information gap in the real estate and environmental sectors. Real Estate Today will catalyze informed discussions on housing and environmental issues in Nigeria,” Okoro said.

He stressed the need for greater market transparency, investor education and structured information to help address Nigeria housing deficit .

Okoro explained that the programme is designed to provide viewers with practical, reliable and up-to-date information on property investment, housing development, land acquisition, documentation and property management.

He observed that although real estate remains one of the country’s strongest wealth-creation sectors, many Nigerians still lack adequate knowledge about buying property, verifying land titles, avoiding fraudulent transactions and identifying genuine investment opportunities.

According to him, Real Estate Today will bridge this knowledge gap by bringing together industry professionals and experts through interviews, panel discussions, field reports and property showcases.

The programme will also educate viewers on land acquisition procedures, property documentation—including Certificates of Occupancy, Deeds of Assignment and Governor’s Consent—new housing developments, investment opportunities, government policies and measures for avoiding fraudulent land transactions.

The Chief Executive Officer of QShelter Ltd, Mr Oludare Makinde, described the programme as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative aimed at empowering Nigerians with the knowledge needed to make informed property decisions.

Makinde said the weekly programme would feature real estate news, expert interviews with lawyers, developers, architects and consultants, a “Property of the Week” segment, a legal corner on land documentation, investment tips and discussions on environmental issues related to property development.

He added that the 30-minute programme is targeted at prospective homeowners, investors, developers, entrepreneurs, young professionals and members of the public seeking credible information on the property market.

Okoro commended the Property and Environment Writers Association of Nigeria (PEWAN) for its role in promoting awareness of real estate and environmental issues, describing the association as a strategic partner in making Real Estate Today a trusted source of information.
The launch, held on Friday, July 3, 2026, attracted industry stakeholders, media professionals and members of the press. Among those present were the Director-General of Business Operations at M.I. Okoro & Associates, Chief Chinedu Mbakwe; President of the Property and Environment Writers Association of Nigeria (PEWAN), Mrs Okwy Iroegbu-Chikezie, and the digital marketing teams of both organisations.
The programme, with the tagline, “Your Guide to Smart Property Investment,” will air weekly on NTA Network every Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. it is produced by Marian Anazodo.
The promoters expressed confidence that the programme would deepen public understanding of the real estate sector, promote transparency, encourage professionalism and contribute to sustainable housing and environmental development in Nigeria.
