Abrdn faces backlash over new chief financial officer’s £675,000 salary

Pay row: Shareholder advisory group Glass Lewis believes  Abrdn CFO Jason Windsor’s wage is too high

Abrdn is facing an investor backlash over its new chief financial officer’s salary of £675,000.

Shareholder advisory group Glass Lewis believes Jason Windsor’s wage is too high because it is more than the equivalent wage at similar asset managers and more than his predecessor earned.

Glass Lewis recommended shareholders vote against the FTSE 250 group’s pay report on April 24.

It questioned why Windsor’s salary is 25 per cent more than what Stephanie Bruce was paid before he replaced her in October last year.

But Abrdn said he had ‘significant experience’ as a finance chief and had spent ‘several years working in large public companies’.

It is another headache for Abrdn after a dismal performance last year saw it announce 10 per cent of its staff would be axed.
