ICSB holds training on Finance Act 2026 to boost tax, VAT compliance

DHAKA, Aug 2, 2026 (BSS) – The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) today organized a training programme on the “Finance Act, 2026: Changes, Impact and Practice” to familiarize professionals with the latest fiscal reforms and their practical implications.

The day-long training, held at the Management FBS Club Limited in the capital, brought together ICSB members, senior corporate officials and professionals from different sectors,  said a press release.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Md. Mizanur Rahman FCS, Treasurer of ICSB and coordinator of the programme, highlighted the importance of understanding the changes introduced through the Finance Act, 2026, saying the training was designed to help professionals effectively implement the new tax and VAT provisions.

Md. Shabbirul Alam Chowdhury, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of ICSB, delivered the welcome address and moderated the session.

The training featured presentations by officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and experienced tax and corporate finance professionals.

The resource persons included Rezaul Karim, Second Secretary (Customs: Policy), NBR; Md. Nazmul Hossain, Second Secretary (Tax), NBR; Md. Abdul Aziz FCS, Manager (Finance and Accounts) of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited; Hadisul Alam FCS, CEO and Chief Consultant of Hadisul Alam & Associates; and Dipongkor Dutta FCS, Chief Financial Officer of Divine Mercy Hospital.

The sessions covered major amendments to VAT, customs and income tax laws introduced under the Finance Act, 2026, as well as practical applications relating to Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), VAT Deducted at Source (VDS) and individual income tax compliance.

Former Commissioner of Income Tax of the NBR Md. Nuruzzaman Khan attended the programme as the guest speaker and shared his insights on the implementation of the new fiscal measures.

The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session where participants discussed practical challenges in applying the new provisions with the resource persons.

At the closing ceremony, Md. Sharif Hasan FCS, Vice President of ICSB, distributed certificates among the participants. 

The institute said the training was arranged as part of its continuing professional development initiatives to strengthen the capacity of corporate professionals in dealing with evolving tax and regulatory requirements.
