Turnover and profits have risen at a law firm which dates back more than 150 years during a year in which it continued to “make significant progress” and secured the backing of private equity.

Higgs LLP was established in 1875 and operates offices in Brierley Hill, Shrewsbury, and Edinburgh.

The historic firm has reported a turnover of £25.9m for the year to 30 November 2025, up from £22.8m in 2024.

Pre-tax profits went from £8.5m to £9.1m over the same period.

On 25 November 2025, Higgs LLP secured a significant investment from August Equity, marking a “pivotal milestone in the firm’s strategic growth journey”.

A spokesperson for the firm said: “These results reflect the strength of the business we have built and provide a strong platform for the next phase of Higgs’ growth.

“Since the year end, we have expanded into Edinburgh and Shrewsbury and, with the backing of August Equity, we are continuing to invest in our people, our capabilities and our ambition to build a leading multi-regional law firm.”

A statement signed off by the board said the financial year saw Higgs LLP “continue to make significant progress towards achieving its vision to be recognised as the independent regional law firm of choice, celebrated for creating a long-term, positive impact on our people, our clients, our business partners and our community”.

“Importantly, we continue to meet both our clients’ expectations and needs and provide a solid platform for our talented and enthusiastic people to pursue their careers in an ever changing legal market,” it said.

“The members are pleased with this performance, and would like to thank our people, our loyal client base and our business partners, for the vital roles they have played throughout the year and for their ongoing support.

“This performance has allowed us to continue to invest over the period by ensuring that technology can deliver an improved environment for our people, mitigate regulatory risk and offer enhanced service levels for our clients. Importantly our contribution, both personal and financial, to our community continues, which is an essential part of our core values.

“The wider economic climate, the ongoing cost of living challenges and the potential impact on our clients and our people, continue to be closely monitored by the membership; however, we remain confident that Higgs LLP is well placed to cope with existing and new client demands.

“We will also continue to embed our purpose, which is to forge long-term relationships that have a positive impact on our people, our clients, our business partners and our community.”
