Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that while Oliver Skipp is keen to get regular game time next season, even if it means leaving Tottenham, but the North London club might not want to lose a club-trained player.
Skipp struggled to get game time through the 2023-24 season, with the midfielder being restricted to just five Premier League starts and a total of just 861 minutes of football across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
The 23-year-old’s cause was not helped by the fact that Tottenham were not in Europe and were knocked out of the cup competitions in the early stages.
Gold has now said that Skipp is determined to play regularly next season and is even prepared to head out on loan in order to ensure that happens.
He points out that while Ange Postecoglou has praised the midfielder publicly, the problem is that the Australian does not see him as a number six and instead prefers to use him as an eight.

Gold explains that while the Tottenham academy graduate will get minutes in the Europa League next season, he wants more than just the odd appearance and is keen to get regular game time under his belt.
However, the journalist adds that it might not be easy to convince Spurs to offload Skipp, given their lack of homegrown options in the squad.

Skipp will turn 24 in a couple of months, which is why I do not see him being too keen on a loan move. My feeling is that either Postecolgou convinces him to stay and fight for his place or he will leave Tottenham permanently this summer.
