Cambridge-based corporate finance firm PEM has made two partnership promotions across its business tax and audit teams.

Angus Wood joined PEM in February 2012 after beginning his career at KPMG and has progressed through a number of senior roles within the business tax team, becoming director in 2022.

He advises entrepreneurial businesses, owner-managed companies, and private clients on a broad range of tax matters, with particular expertise in innovation-led businesses, research and development tax relief, and intellectual property planning.

Wood said: “Being promoted to partner is both a proud milestone and a significant responsibility.

“Personally, it reflects the culmination of years of hard work and the support of colleagues, friends and family.

“Our business tax team is on a strong growth trajectory, and I am excited about the opportunity to broaden our offering, particularly in the area of intellectual property advice while continuing to support innovative businesses across the Cambridge ecosystem.”

Tom Hamilton joined PEM as a graduate in 2014 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2018.

Having progressed to director in 2023 and subsequently achieved responsible individual status, he provides audit and assurance services to high-growth businesses across the technology, AI and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Hamilton said: “Being promoted to partner is a significant milestone both personally and professionally.

“It represents the culmination of years of hard work, learning and support from colleagues, mentors and clients.

“I am excited by the opportunity to support the continued growth of the audit team and the wider firm, strengthen client relationships and help develop the next generation of talent.

“PEM has invested significantly in my development throughout my career, and I look forward to giving back through mentoring and supporting future leaders.”

Warren Tilbury, chief executive of PEM, added: “Angus and Tom’s promotions are a reflection of the strength and depth of talent we continue to build at PEM.

“Cambridge is home to one of the most innovative and entrepreneurial business communities in the UK. Both Angus and Tom have played an important role in that success.

“Their connections, collaborative approach and deep understanding of the local market help create opportunities and deliver value for the businesses we work with.

“They are passionate about developing our people, supporting our clients and contributing to the long-term success of the Cambridge ecosystem.

“I look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make as partners.”
