Gov’t continuing to develop sports infrastructure

Georgian Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze on Monday told the opening ceremony of a newly built football stadium in the southern city of Marneuli the country’s Government was continuing to develop sports infrastructure.

With our joint efforts, we are building stadiums of the standard where new champions and even more amateur or professional athletes will grow”, he said.

In 2023, we decently hosted the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The construction and rehabilitation of 11 stadiums was carried out precisely as a result of the accumulated experience”, the official added.

The 2,000-capacity stadium is designed to host both local and international tournaments, with ₾8.2 million ($2.9 mln) spent from the state budget on design and construction works.
