MFS Investment Management is launching the MFS Meridian Funds – Euro Opportunistic bond fund, a multi-sector strategy to give investors exposure to the range of European bond opportunities.
The fund has a core focus on high-quality government and corporate debt (mostly denominated in euros), but the managers can move into higher yielding areas where valuations seem compelling enough.
It will deliver total return in euros, benchmarked against the Bloomberg Euro Aggregate Index. The new strategy is co-managed by Annalisa Piazza (pictured left) and Andy Li (pictured right) of the fixed income team, while Owen Murfin serves as institutional portfolio manager.
Matt Weisser, managing director of Europe at MFS, said: “Client demand has been strong, and today’s market offers an unusual combination of healthy yields and high credit quality.
“In an environment that can turn quickly, we believe the fund’s flexibility allows us to draw on a wider range of return drivers rather than relying on any one of them.”
This is the second addition to the MFS European fixed income range, following the MFS Meridian funds – Euro Credit Short Term Bond fund, which launched in June.
