Miras Investments Appoints Matthew Lesesky as Global Head of Private Equity

Miras Investments, a Middle East-based institutional family office with a globally diversified investment portfolio, has appointed Matthew Lesesky as Global Head of Private Equity, expanding its investment leadership team as the firm continues to develop its alternative investment strategies.

Lesesky will oversee Miras Investments’ global private equity program and report directly to Elizabeth Hewitt, Chief Investment Officer.

The appointment brings an investment executive with nearly three decades of experience in private markets, institutional portfolio management and alternative investments to the firm’s leadership team.

In his new position, Lesesky will manage Miras’ private equity investments worldwide, focusing primarily on commitments to funds managed by established third-party investment firms.

The strategy also includes selective co-investments alongside private equity managers, providing additional opportunities to participate directly in transactions.

Lesesky will work with Hewitt, the firm’s Investment Committee and shareholders within Miras’ established investment governance framework.

The family office, founded in 1980, has a longstanding history of investing with alternative asset managers across private equity, venture capital and hedge funds.

“Matthew has built an exceptionally strong track record managing alternative investments for highly regarded non-profit and asset manager brands, including experience building and maintaining private equity programs,” Hewitt said.

She highlighted Lesesky’s experience in the U.S. lower middle market as particularly relevant to Miras’ existing investment portfolio and long-term strategy.

Lesesky joined Miras in October 2026 after spending the previous 14 years at UNC Management Company, a Chapel Hill, North Carolina-based nonprofit investment organization responsible for managing long-term investments and endowment assets for the University of North Carolina System.

Most recently, he served as Managing Director on UNC Management Company’s private investment team.

In that role, he oversaw private equity investments spanning venture capital, growth equity and buyout strategies within the $17 billion UNC Investment Fund.

His responsibilities included evaluating investment managers, constructing private market portfolios and managing exposure across different investment strategies.

The experience provided Lesesky with a background in institutional asset allocation, investment pacing and risk management, all of which are central to managing long-term private equity programs.

Before joining UNC Management Company, Lesesky held investment management positions at Hatteras Funds and Pacific Corporate Group Capital Partners LLC.

Earlier in his career, he worked as an Associate in the Investment Banking division at Citigroup and as an Associate at Fusion Ventures LLC, an early-stage venture capital investment firm.

He began his professional career as an Analyst at Andersen Consulting.

His career spans institutional investing, asset management, venture capital and investment banking, providing experience across multiple segments of the private capital markets.

At Miras, Lesesky will apply that background to a private equity program built around long-term relationships with external investment managers.

The firm’s approach emphasizes investments through commingled funds, in which capital from multiple investors is pooled and managed by third-party investment firms.

Co-investments may supplement those commitments when individual opportunities align with the firm’s portfolio objectives.

This structure allows institutional investors to access specialized investment managers while maintaining diversified exposure across private equity strategies, industries and geographic markets.

Miras operates with an investment approach similar to that of a university endowment, combining long-term capital allocation with a globally diversified portfolio.

Its investments span public equities, hedge funds, private equity and venture capital.

The firm maintains investment professionals in the United States and the Middle East, supporting its global investment activities and relationships with external managers.

“Miras Investments has a decades-long legacy of partnering early with exceptional investors across private equity and the broader alternatives markets, and I am honored to help continue that legacy,” Lesesky said.

He added that he intends to strengthen Miras’ position as a long-term investment partner to private equity firms and other alternative asset managers.

Lesesky also cited the firm’s emphasis on continuous learning, diverse perspectives and a collaborative investment culture as factors that attracted him to the organization.

His appointment comes as institutional investors continue to focus on portfolio construction, manager selection and capital deployment discipline in private markets.

For long-term investors such as family offices and endowments, private equity programs require managing commitments across multiple investment years while balancing capital calls, distributions and portfolio exposure.

Lesesky’s background managing private investments for a major university investment fund provides experience relevant to those responsibilities.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in Applied Science and Computer Science and minored in Mathematics.

He also earned a Master of Business Administration from the university’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Miras Investments did not disclose any changes to its private equity allocation targets or investment commitments associated with the appointment.

The addition of Lesesky strengthens the firm’s senior investment team as it continues managing a diversified portfolio of public and private market investments.

As Global Head of Private Equity, he will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s relationships with private equity managers and guiding investment activity across its global private equity program.
