Fire stopped at 2 acres at Silver Creek Estates; bigger one runs with wind in Tooele area

Firefighters from Park City Fire District knocked down a 2-acre wildfire Saturday afternoon in Silver Creek Estates in under an hour despite gusty winds, while a fast growing fire in the Tooele County area has blown well out of control for the moment.

The fire near Park City began around 1:45 p.m. and by an hour later mopup was underway. No structures reportedly were involved.

The larger fire broke out around the same time Saturday afternoon off Highway 36 near the Tooele County-Juab County border. Heavy, gusty winds pushed the fast-growing Boulter Fire to over 1,000 acres by 4:30 p.m., according to Utah Fire Info.

Residences were evacuated between Vernon and Eureka, and the highway closed. Multiple ground resources are fighting the fire and more have been ordered, according to Utah Fire Info.

“Bulldozers are being utilized to build the fire line,” according to Utah Fire Info, which said the fire is six to eight miles from 5 Mile Pass and “is moving quickly. Federal, state & local resources on scene.”

No word on whether air forces are available in the gusting winds.
