City of Birmingham suing motel owner, says property is a ‘public nuisance’


BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The City of Birmingham is suing a motel owner saying the property is a public nuisance.

In a complaint filed on August 15, the city accused the Relax Inn on 1st Avenue North in Woodlawn of affecting the surrounding area.

Last week, a man wanted for several violent crimes was arrested at this motel.

The city claims in the past two years, Birmingham police officers received and responded to more than 90 calls for service at the property.
