Sligo man (29) before district court charged with arson, handling stolen property and trespass


The accused appeared before Sligo District Court.

A 29 year old man before the district court on a number of charges including arson, trespass and handling stolen property was remorseful and had amended his ways, his solicitor told the court.

Dylan Lynott, Garavogue Villas, Sligo was charged with stealing alcohol products total value €14.15 from Tesco, O’Connell St, Sligo on May 12 2024. He was also charged with committing arson damage by fire by setting two wheelie bins on fire which were inside a small shed damaging both sheds and bins at Pearse Court, Pearse Road, Sligo on May 11 2024. He is also charged with entering a building as a trespasser at Pearse Court. On the same date at Market Yard, Sligo he is charged with handling stolen property to wit one 100 Rupee note, three US dollars, one HP Laptop knowing that the property was stolen.

Solicitor Tom MacSharry said his client was pleading guilty. He had addiction issues and is now working in construction. He said a Probation Report would be beneficial. Judge Sandra Murphy adjourned to February 6 with compensation to be in court.
