Residents near Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s £6.3 million holiday home in Comporta, Portugal, are voicing concerns over wealthy foreigners purchasing coastal properties.

Developers are now allowed to build on public beaches and designate them as “private,” limiting access for locals. Previously, rules prevented such developments, but new regulations have enabled the privatization of beautiful natural areas, reported Mirror.

Local resident Bradley McGuinness expressed frustration, calling it “the worst thing to happen to the Portuguese coast,” while Andre Andrade lamented the loss of land for locals who have enjoyed the area for generations.

Diana Queiroz added, “I have been going to this place for years, camped there several times, and because of this company, this is no longer possible.”

The property is located near Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack’s summer residence, about an hour south of Lisbon.

Situated at the exclusive CostaTerra Gold and Ocean Club, designed by the upscale Denton House, it boasts stunning beaches and a reputation as a secluded getaway for the wealthy.

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan moved their family to a £23.6 million mansion in Montecito, California, near celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Katy Perry.
