The White Lotus has checked out of Thailand and into the French Riviera. But a previously announced cast member won’t be on the guest list for Season 4 of the Emmy-winning series from creator Mike White.
Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming season.
Who is in The White Lotus Season 4 cast?
This upcoming season features a full lineup of acclaimed stars and new faces, including Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marisa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, A.J. Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. Additional cast members include Chloë Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Pérez, Ben Schnetzer, and Laura Smet.
That list previously included Helena Bonham Carter, but shortly after the start of production, the two-time Oscar nominee departed the series, reportedly due to a misalignment with her character.
“With filming just underway on season four of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement. “The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.” The news was initially reported by Deadline.
Where will The White Lotus Season 4 be set?
The season just began production this month; it will shoot in Cannes, St. Tropez, and Monaco. Filming will also take place in Paris, though the story will remain along the Côte d’Azur.
Which hotels will be featured?
Unlike past seasons, in which guests stayed at a single location, this season will feature the cast across different hotels. These include the posh Airelles Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, which serves as the White Lotus du Cap, and the Hôtel Martinez on the French Riviera, which serves as the White Lotus Cannes.
What will happen this season?
According to the official synopsis, “the fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival.”
Who is not returning for The White Lotus Season 4?
One person for sure: Cristobal Tapia de Veer. The composer, who has won three Emmys for the show, told The New York Times he will not return for Season 4 due to creative differences with White that have been present since the first season and intensified over the Season 3 theme.
When will The White Lotus Season 4 premiere?
There’s no premiere date for Season 4 yet, but since production has just begun and Season 3 took six months to film, Season 4 likely won’t arrive to your screens until 2027.
