Aditi Rao Hydari has taken a departure from her casuals for occasion wear in the last two months. The actor, who was busy promoting and then celebrating the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, shifted to looks that match her character and the period-style aesthetic of the Netflix series. Rao Hydari truly “stayed in character” for one of her appearances at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, with her Manish Malhotra lehenga set.

In May 2024, she walked down the promenade of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in a gold lehenga from the veteran couturier’s latest ‘Banaras’ collection. The edit, which was launched on the Namo Ghat along the Ganges river in Varanasi in April 2024, showcases exquisite Indian wear pieces that are a tribute to the skilled artisanal Bunker community of the region.
Instead of conventional choli-esque blouses, her lehenga is complemented with a kurta accentuated with intricate tonal embroidery on the neckline and cuffs. The kurta is hemmed with a zari border that’s also translated on the skirt’s embroidered border.
