Anime and video games collide with Crunchyroll‘s new rollout of anime games this summer. Crunchyroll‘s game service, known as the Crunchyroll Game Vault, has a catalog of video games from a variety of genres available on Android and iOS. This summer, Crunchyroll is updating its Game Vault with a gradual rollout of new games based on popular anime for its subscribers to tide them over the middle months of the year.
While Crunchyroll already has a robust selection of video games to choose from, the selection of new games it’s releasing in the upcoming months is perfect for those who enjoy both gaming and anime. As the two interests often intersect, it’s a great opportunity to see the kind of games that are the most popular in Japan. Fans who have the two highest subscription tiers should take advantage of this opportunity, with 15 new games available across the Summer season for the price of a subscription.

Crunchyroll’s Game Vault Updates For the Anime Summer Season
Get the Opportunity to Play Popular Japanese Games
The Crunchyroll Game Vault is a great way to discover new video games from a variety of genres, particularly by Japanese developers. The genres available to subscribers vary from visual novels, action games, RPGs, and rhythm games. Although these games are only available on Android and iOS, phone games are incredibly popular in Japan, and adapting anime into phone games is a natural fit for the Japanese market. These games have been localized for Crunchyroll users, and now players outside of Japan have the chance to play them.
In addition to adapting popular anime into games, such as Demon Slayer and Psycho-Pass, the Crunchyroll Game Vault also comes with visual novels that are often instead the source material for anime adaptations. Video gamers who enjoy RPGs and the storytelling part of video games should give visual novels a try, as they’re essentially video games without combat.
The Popularity of Visual Novels
Visual novels are a form of interactive storytelling where the reader takes an active role in the story and comes with vibrant art and engaging characters. The genre straddles the lines between manga and video gaming and often goes hand-in-hand with anime adaptations thanks to its visual cues. Crunchyroll’s Gaming Vault update will include several visual novels this summer, including from acclaimed titles such as Steins;Gate.
