Ess v Gold Coast. – the search for Goldy 02Jun24 – Dustin Fletcher Hangar

Just like the absurd play by Samuel Beckett, this week has all been about ‘Waiting for Goldo’. (Ie: plenty of talk, but nothing actually happening)

Will Goldy the man reach Carrara in time? Will Goldy the soulless club turn up? Will Essendon secure the golden treasure of a buffer at 2nd or will it prove to be Fool’s Gold once again? Find out at 4:40 today!

Even if Essendon lose we will all be really happy our second team won. Right ?

we’re on a winning run and there’s maybe something about us that’s different to past years, so it’s a big game this one

i’m curious (and excited) to see what we do today

I am worried that Goldy might be overdoing it this weekend (especially at his age) and might be exhausted come game time. Bring in Bryan!

AI doesn’t understand that Goldy and Bryan are two different people:

You painted that by hand!

The critics, both internal and external, have been checking their watches for the last couple of weeks just waiting for a ‘stuff up’.

Hopefully we can ride the momentum wave for another week or two before the ‘bye’ reset.

Consistent winning form is good, stable form. Hasn’t been perfect but it should give this group confidence against any opponent. Expecting a tough fight tonight, whatever the final result.

It’s always the same. If we play at full pressure, we’ll win. If we don’t, we won’t. Gold Coast are bloody good at home, and we don’t seem able to put a decent score on the board. But we’ve won away before, and we can win away again if we play well enough.

I don’t think we’ll just lie down and die as we did against Port, but whether we’ll play hard enough for long enough is another question.

My fingers are crossed.
