While it’s been known that there are plans to make a Booster Gold series in the DCU, no casting announcements have been made for who will play the titular character at this time. A new rumor suggests that the role has been secretly cast with one actor from the MCU’s Eternals.
According to a report by Nexus Point News, actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani has been cast as Booster Gold, set to play the character in the DCU show. Known film industry scooper Daniel Richtman re-shared the report on social media, further spreading the rumored casting. Notably, the casting hasn’t been officially confirmed at this time, and neither Nanjiani nor Gunn, both of whom are very active on social media, have publicly addressed the report.

However, Nanjiani recently showed his support for Superman, the upcoming film from Gunn that is also set in the DCU. Even if Nanjiani isn’t in Superman, he still could potentially be leading the Booster Gold series. If that turns out to be the case, it wouldn’t be the first foray into the genre for the actor. He previously played Kingo in the 2021 film Eternals, a superhero movie set in the MCU. There have been rumors that Eternals will get a sequel, so there could be more to come from Nanjiani in the MCU, but it remains to be seen if that ever happens. Nanjiani also had a special appearance in the famous “Herogasm” episode of The Boys, and he voiced the same character in the animated spinoff series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
Coincidentally, another actor from The Boys has been rumored to be up for the DCU’s Booster Gold. Homelander actor Antony Starr is the subject of those rumors, but he has downplayed them in response.
