Police have arrested four men over a GTA-style robbery on Tuesday night that saw a van intercepted by two private cars and robbed of eight gold bars, weighing 8 kg and worth HK$4.32 million.
The robbery took place at the intersection between Chau Tau Road and Castle Peak Road – Chau Tau around 8 pm on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old driver surnamed Sham was delivering the gold bars to a warehouse near Chau Tau Tsuen but his light goods van was intercepted by two private cars.
The two knife-wielding robbers then threatened Sham and took away the van as well as the gold bars inside.
Police later located the van on Hok Tau Road in Sheung Shui and found that the licenses on the two private cars were false.
After in-depth investigation, police arrested four local men aged 25 to 34 for robbery and using false documents. They are now remanded in custody.
