Greece wins historic first gold medal in European Aquatic Championships


Greece has secured its first gold medal in the team free artistic swimming competition at the European Aquatic Championships held in Belgrade.

The Greek national team triumphed in the team free final with an impressive score of 270.1980, finishing 15.5 points ahead of Italy (254.7354). The UK and Turkey were the other competitors in the event.

Before this historic victory in Belgrade, Greece had achieved five silver and six bronze medals in artistic swimming.

The Greek team made one change from the qualifiers, with Artemi Koutraki replacing Ifigenia Krommydakis. The winning team also included Maria Alzigouzi-Kominea, Thalia Dambali, Athena Kamarinopoulou, Zoi Karangelou, Maria Karapanagiotou, Sofia Rigakou, and Vasiliki Thanou.
