A South Bristol-based catering firm has won the UK’s only Food for Life Served Here Gold certified corporate menu.
Kate Ploughman, founder of Kate’s Kitchen welcomed the gold standard accreditation as she steers the company to its next chapter.
The company currently serves 190 meals on average per day, from Monday to Friday, while adhering to their ethos of using fresh, seasonal, local and organic produce in their meals.

Kate who founded Kate’s Kitchen back in 2007 has expressed her passion for preparing healthy meals with locally sourced produce. She said: “I am a chef by trade, my passion is cooking food with local, seasonal and organic produce.”
On the Gold accreditation Kate said: “It shows what work we are doing within the business by prioritising organic, local and seasonal food, and being recognised for it. Demonstrating that what we are doing is good for the environment, soil and health.
“It’s a great marketing tool to show our customers what we have achieved and what we care about. We have put the certification in our office lunch brochures, which will give us the edge against competition.”

As a Food for Life Served Here Gold certification holder, Kate’s Kitchen serves meat which comes from farms which satisfy UK welfare standards; sustainable fish and free-range eggs; at least 15 per cent organic ingredients and locally produced and seasonal produce.
On the road to Gold accreditation, Kate said: “It was something I had wanted to do for ages, as having the recognition of an industry certification is really helpful.
“It’s useful for marketing purposes and for our corporate clients to support their sustainability practices. It’s great to have found the time to achieve our Food for Life Served Here Gold certification.”
Kate’s Kitchen has recently joined forces with Square Food Foundation in its Corporate Membership Club scheme to engage meaningfully with businesses in Bristol and the Southwest by providing companies with employee benefits through volunteering, mentoring opportunities and donations towards the foundation’s Recipe Kits and Classes.
