Katie Moore claims four gold medals in Stockport

Action from around the country over the weekend. Saturday saw the Cheshire Masters at Stockport, with plenty of interest from our local clubs.

Katie Moore of City of Liverpool was in great from, picking up four gold medals from four starts, whilst Bebington’s Andrew Dobbing helped himself to gold in the 400m Individual Medley and silver in the 50m Breaststroke. 14 Warrington Masters made the trip along the M56, with Carl Barkley returning home with three golds and a silver.

Ben Harkin and Russ Mason both also collected three golds. Mark Jones ended a busy day with two golds, three silvers and a bronze. Mike Rimmington, Clive Roberts, Andrew Bennett and Barry James all finished with a gold and a silver, whilst Lindsay Houlston picked up two silvers.

There was a gold for Graham Padgett in the 400m Freestyle and Lynn-Marie Anderton in the 50m Breaststroke, with Philip Woods and Libby Ward taking silver in those events respectively. Darren Jones and Samantha Maher spearheaded the Hoylake success, both grabbing a gold and a silver.

SUCCESS: Hoylake Masters at Stockport 

Lee Newcombe took gold in the 400m Freestyle, with silvers for Matt James and Andy McGinn. Connor Pilling took bronze in the 50m Backstroke. Southport were led by Helen Jenkins who stormed to gold in both the 50m Backstroke and 50m Breaststroke, whilst Sara Lang picked up a silver and two bronze.

The Derby Summer Meet saw Rubaidh Birch of Hoylake take gold in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke events whilst Bebington’s Sophia Hewlett was rewarded for a hectic schedule with three personal bests, the highlight being when taking silver in the 400m Freestyle. City of Liverpool’s Ellie McDermott set PB’s in the 200m & 400m Freestyle.

Up at Preston a huge Southport presence, saw some standout performances, in particular from Jessica Bentley, Max Wisse, Isabella Scott and India Davey. City of Liverpool’s Scarlett-Rose Barr set herself three lifetime bests whilst Beatrice Bartram of Wallasey posted PB’s in the 100m Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley.
