Kellie Harrington has revealed where she keeps her Olympic gold medals as Ireland’s medal hopefuls appeared on Friday’s Late Late Show.
Harrington was joined by double world champions Rhys McClenaghan and Daniel Wiffen as they look forward to Paris.
And despite all the success, it is only Harrington who has an Olympic gold medal to her name and she divulged where she keeps the medals.
“It goes everywhere,” Said Harrington. “Wherever I go.”
And when asked about how difficult it will be to defend her title, she said: “I won’t know until I get there. I’m just going to go over there and enjoy it. It will be what will be, that’s the way I did it over in Tokyo. Just taking the same [approach]. Just chilled and it means no worries and go out and do what you can do.”
And Harrington revealed that she is not immediately hanging up the gloves post-Paris.
“I’ll be retired form internaitonal duty but I want to do the national championships again and get the best record in boxing.”
McClenaghan refelected on his Olympic journey in Tokyo and how it will spur him on this summer.
He said: “Of course it hurt but I was the first ever Irish gymnast to make an Olympic final so that was a win. I could have performed better and I could have taken home an Olympic medal but it wasn’t to be that day but I went back to the gym and worked harder than ever and it produced a two time world champion.”
And viewers were full of praise for the trio with one saying: “Great listening to this grand trio. Daniel Wiffen, Kellie Harrington, and Rhys McClenaghan talking about wins, families.”
While another said: “Three great athletes. Go Kellie, Rhys & Daniel. Great commitment and determination. Enjoy it all.”
And another added: “The three Olympians are inspirational. Best of luck in Paris.”
