Mitton strikes shot put gold at Glasgow World Championships



A Nova Scotia athlete has become a women’s shot put world champion.

Liverpool’s Sarah Mitton won the title at the World Athletic Indoor Championships on Friday, breaking a Canadian record along the way.

Mitton won gold at the event with a throw of 20.22 metres in Glasgow, Scotland.

Mitton will ride her world championship victory into the Paris Olympics, where she will be a favourite to medal for Canada.
