A gold-painted post box has been revealed near Cillian Murphy’s childhood home in Cork.
An Post has transformed its customary green post box in Ballintemple, a stone’s throw away from where the acclaimed actor spent his early years, and turned it to gold to commemorate his epic Oscar win.
Cillian clinched the prestigious award last Sunday, becoming the first Irish-born male actor to achieve this feat.
Speaking on Desert Island Discs, Cillian agreed that letter writing is important, especially for actors who may want to put themselves forward to clinch a special role. “Take the time to handwrite a letter and post it,” he stated as advice to fellow thespians.
In his acceptance speech, Murphy expressed profound gratitude, stating he was “overwhelmed” and underscored his deep-rooted pride in his Irish heritage.
The freshly painted gold post box has swiftly become a popular spot for visitors eager to capture selfies.
