X Games Ventura wrapped up yesterday with Mens Skateboard Street, an event that always puts on a show and has featured legendary skateboarders atop its podium from Chad Muska to Eric Koston and Ryan Sheckler. This year it was skate street powerhouse, Olympic Gold hopeful, and X Games podium mainstay Nyjah Huston who grabbed his 23rd medal and 15th gold medal that tied him with Shawn White and Garett Reynolds for most gold medals in X Games history.
Huston was joined by fellow American Braden Hoban who earned a silver and Portuguese powerhouse Gustavo Ribiero to round out yesterday’s podium. Today’s contest circuit might be filled out with Olympic qualifiers and Street Leages, but Nyjah reminded the audience why he still loves X Games, because “it’s the OG, it’s the OG action sports contest,” and he’s been competing in them since he was 11 years old!
Huston’s win comes at a good time as he’ll head to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics with hopes to take Gold in Skateboard Street.
