Perrie Edwards’ gold chainmail naked dress gives ’70s pop icon


It may have been released seven years ago now, but ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ is still an absolute tune and that is a hill I am willing to die on. Admittedly, I did briefly forget about this song completely, but with Little Mix occupying the airwaves again – albeit separately – it’s been added straight back into my playlist. Along with Perrie Edwards‘ new solo single, ‘Tears’.

But more than just listening to Perrie’s newest release on repeat, I’ve actually been watching the music video non-stop since it dropped yesterday [Monday 1 July] to drool over all the stunning ‘fits she sports throughout the two minutes and 58 seconds. As we well know, new music means a new look – just ask the queen of reinvention, Taylor Swift. And for Perrie, the ‘Tears’ music video suggests she’s entered her ’70 fashion era.

Taking centre stage is a bejewelled bra and coordinating cropped jacket paired with high-rise flared-leg red trousers and accessorised with not one, not two but three (!!) gold belts layered around her waist and hips. XL gold hoop earrings and a statement oversized choker necklace complete the ’70s pop icon look.

But the ‘fit that really caught our attention is Perrie’s very naked gold chainmail backless mini dress.

Wearing just a nude thong beneath the barely-there design, Perrie leant into the retro flower power vibes with floral-embellished mules. Her followers loved the look, with one person commenting on the post “CHERrie has arrived 🔥” and a second writing, “You totally serving with this look! 🔥🤩💛”.

Since the girl band announced their hiatus in 2022 to pursue individual projects, both Perrie and Leigh-Anne Pinnock have released music, with final bandmate Jade Thirlwall confirming her debut single is coming *so* soon. We can’t wait to hear it – and more importantly, see what she wears in her solo era.
