Rebecca Gibney is the newest inductee in the Logie Hall of Fame. The veteran actress has been honoured for outstanding contributions throughout her career.
Claudia Karvan initially presented this one, who we all agreed looked very cool in her get-up.
“I can’t think of anybody more deserving to enter the Hall of Fame,” Karvan says. “Once again, she’ll grace this stage where she has appeared so many times as a nominee and winner.”
Gibney gets a second speech, from Packed to the Rafters co-star Erik Thomson. He weaves a delightful tale about first meeting the new Hall of Famer in the summer of 1997. The pair clearly grew close across their time in the long-running series.
“She embraces everyone, and never talks down to everyone. Our shared wicked sense of humour also aligned, I discovered. We have endured hundreds, perhaps thousands of hours of pant-wetting laughter since,” Thomson says.
Next up is Gibney’s son, Zac Bell, who we saw arrive with his mum on the red carpet a little earlier. He makes a very passionate speech to round out the on-stage dedications.
“To some, she’s an amazing actor. To others, a great friend, a co-worker, a daughter, a sister, and a wife. A hardworking, honest, kind and caring soul,” says Bell. “I love you Mum. To the moon and back, and I’m so proud of you”.
