Sitka intercepts more VG at RC Gold

Sitka Gold Corp. July 15 announced that visible gold (VG) has been observed multiple times in recently completed diamond drilling currently underway at the southern extent of the Blackjack Zone on the company’s RC Gold project in Yukon, Canada.

Located approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) east of Dawson City, the RC Gold project spans a contiguous 431 square kilometers (166 square miles) within the prolific Tombstone Gold Belt.

According to the inaugural calculation completed in 2023, its two most advanced deposits, Blackjack and Eiger, host an inferred resource of 61.1 million metric tons averaging 0.68 grams per metric ton (1.34 million ounces) gold.

Sitka’s 2024 exploration program was ambitiously designed to expand and further define the gold potential within this extensive property. Initial plans included up to 15,000 meters of diamond drilling, soil sampling, geological mapping, and prospecting to identify and test high-priority targets across the RC Gold project.

To date, the company has completed six drill holes totaling 2,636 meters, with significant findings of VG, particularly in drill holes DDRCCC-24-061 (most abundant VG seen in metasedimentary rocks to date) and DDRCCC-24-062 (VG observed from 76 meters to 526 meters).

Drilling at DDRCCC-24-063 is currently underway, testing the projection of higher-grade gold mineralization along the newly identified Blackjack Mineralized Corridor. Assays for these holes are currently pending, and a second drill has been mobilized to the site to accelerate the exploration efforts.

“Observations of strong mineralization including multiple occurrences of visible gold in the first drill holes of the summer continue to highlight the robust nature of this gold system and the potential to add significant tonnage to the growing Blackjack gold deposit,” said Sitka Gold CEO Cor Coe. “The current drilling has targeted shallower mineralization up-dip from previous drill holes that intersected deeper higher-grade mineralization and we are now stepping out further south to continue to track this impressive mineralized gold system.”

The company’s ongoing drilling program aims to expand gold mineralization at the wide-open Blackjack deposit while exploring other high-priority targets across the recently consolidated Clear Creek Intrusive Complex.

“We are eagerly looking forward to these latest assay results as we continue to expand gold mineralization at our wide-open Blackjack deposit and explore other high-priority targets across the cluster of intrusive rocks and surrounding metasediments that make up the recently consolidated Clear Creek Intrusive Complex, including drill targets on our newly acquired Clear Creek Property,” Coe added.

With the recent acquisition of the 45-square-kilometer (17-square-mile) Clear Creek property, Sitka also updated its 2024 exploration program. This addition enhances the project’s potential for discovering additional gold deposits by incorporating high-priority targets within the Clear Creek Intrusive Complex, further solidifying Sitka’s strategic landholdings and exploration efforts in the Yukon.
