Taylor Swift was recently spotted wearing a gold pendant necklace that holds a special and hidden meaning to the songstress.
The Bad Blood hitmaker, 34, notably sported the piece of jewelry as she visited Electric Lady Studios in New York City earlier last week.
The necklace is from Kobe Bryant‘s widow, Vanessa Bryant‘s, Mambacita x ZC capsule collection that dropped back in March 2022. The limited collaboration was with the L.A. based company called Zoe Chicco Fine Jewelry.
The gold-chained piece contains a small, circular pendant that has the late basketball player’s famous quote engraved on the front: ‘Bet on yourself.’
Not long after Swift’s outing, Vanessa took to her Instagram stories to give a sweet shout out to the Grammy winner and reposted a story about the star donning the necklace.
She added a blue, heart-shaped emoji that had the words, ‘We Love You Taylor’ printed in the middle.
At the time the limited collection was launched, 100% of the proceeds went to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, which was also tagged in the recent post.
The nonprofit organization is, ‘dedicated to creating a positive impact for undeserved athletes and boys & girls in sports,’ per the official website.
The foundation was also ‘founded through the vision and loving memory of Kobe and Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant.’
Taylor has been very close with the Bryant family for many years, and Kobe notably joined the Love Story singer on stage back in 2015 during her 1989 World Tour. He died aged 41 in a helicopter crash in January 2020 alongside daughter Gianna, 13, and six others.
Last year, Vanessa had shared a TikTok video originally posted by ESPN that had captured the moment when Kobe stepped in front of the cheering crowd to present Swift with a special banner.
Text added towards the top of the reel read: ‘Kobe Bryant presented Taylor Swift her ‘championship’ banner for most sold out shows at Staples Center in 2015.’
At the time, the performer had also jumped to Twitter, also known as X, to express her gratitude for the sports star joining her on stage.
He had responded on the same social media platform by typing out, ‘My pleasure @taylorswift13 Keep breaking records and changing lives #1989TourLA.’
And back in 2019, the late basketball player had also opened up about Swift during an interview on The Jordan Harbinger Show.
‘She’s a sweet kid. I mean, she was a sweetheart to my girls before she even blew up and became Taylor Swift.’
‘So that’s why I’ll always, if she needs anything from me, I’m always there,’ Kobe had expressed.
Following the tragic deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, as well as seven other individuals in a deadly helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, Taylor paid an emotional tribute on X.
‘My heart is in pieces hearing the news of this unimaginable tragedy. I can’t fathom what the families are going through,’ she had penned.
‘Kobe meant so much to me and to us all. Sending my prayers, love, and endless condolences to Vanessa and the family and anyone who lost someone on that flight.’
Later that same year in the summer of 2020, the songstress gifted a cardigan to Vanessa and Kobe’s eldest daughter, Natalia 20.
She had jumped to her own Instagram stories to share a picture of the piece of clothing and typed out, ‘Thank you SO much @talorswift. I am OBSESSED with “folklore”!!!’
Last year in August, Vanessa and her daughters Natalia, Bianka, seven, and Capri, four, stopped by Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Los Angeles.
The philanthropist shared memorable photos and clips from the special night, including the moment when Bianka was given the singer’s hat during the performance.
Taylor held a big smile on her face as she headed over to Bianka and the pair also shared a heartwarming embrace.
She also uploaded a snap as both she and her three daughters had the chance to pose with the singer backstage at the concert. ‘Always love ❤️ @taylorswift @nataliabryant.’
Vanessa additionally shared a glimpse of a denim jacket that she had worn which included in image of Taylor and Kobe on stage together back in 2015.
Above the photo which was bordered with jewels, the word ‘Swiftie’ was embroidered on the fabric. And on the front, lyrics to her hit track, Wildest Dreams, was added and read: ‘Say you’ll remember me.’
Taylor – who is currently dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce – is preparing to kick off more international dates for her Eras Tour beginning next month in February.
She is slated to make stops starting in Tokyo on February 7, followed by other concerts in countries such as Australia, France, Singapore and also Sweden.
Her preparations to step back onto the stage come after a source told DailyMail.com exclusively that the NFL star has already started planning Swift’s engagement ring.
‘He has thought of having a lyric or a quote engraved on the band that is special to both of them, and he has also floated using some of the diamonds from his Super Bowl rings on her band.’
‘He wants to make sure it isn’t something cheesy, but more unique and something that is a part of him that he shares with her to show that forever means forever,’ the insider continued.
However, the source explained that Kelce, ‘isn’t going to propose to her anytime soon, so no one should get those hopes up, but he has talked to family and friends about what he could do that would be special for an engagement ring.’
