UK-headquartered construction consultancy Turner & Townsend’s office in Bogotá, Colombia has achieved LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

Its premises at Edificio Nueve 5 is now one of just 131 LEED gold-certified projects in the country. There are around 33,000 gold-certified buildings worldwide.

In its specific category of non-retail or hospitality commercial interiors, it’s one of only 20 gold-certified projects in Colombia.

Nine of those were certified gold in 2023, and Turner & Townsend project-managed two of them: AstraZeneca’s office and the New Zealand Embassy in Bogotá.

The company said the award made it “pioneers among our peers” for its commitment to sustainability.

It moved into the office in 2022.

The design of utilities cut energy use by 10% and water usage by 40%, the company said.

It found second-hand lighting fixtures and furniture, while office chairs are made with 50% recycled materials.

“The LEED certification is a global badge of honour in sustainability and human-centric design,” said real estate director Magally Rojas.
