Broxburn Amateur Boxing Club are hoping they can pack a punch in 2024 after ending the year on a high.
The club scooped quadruple East District gold to go along with double national delight a few weeks earlier as they picked up a club record six national and regional gold medals.
Shreyas Yarlagadda and Aiden Glowienko bagged themselves golds at the Scottish National Development Championships, with that success then being followed up by winning efforts from Ross Brown, Niall Kelly, Charlie Leask and Lomond McGregor at the East District Championships.
It’s a gold medal haul that already tops last season’s total with plenty of time left to add to the effort and has coach Andy Leask beaming with pride.
Speaking to the Courier, he said: “It’s an absolutely brilliant achievement from the club and we’re all over the moon.
“To have four East District winners from four finals is tremendous and they all boxed really well on the day and deserved their gold medals.
“As a club, we’ve already won more medals this season than last and we still have some big events to come so we’re really hoping we can add to our tally.”
He added: “It’s just been such a hugely positive time for the club. Out of 27 bouts collectively, our boxers have won 24 of them which is huge credit to them.
“Everyone at the club can be rightfully incredibly proud. It speaks volumes about their dedication that they put in the hours and hard work and have the desire to improve but it also highlights a really top class coaching team.
“These results are testament to every person at the club.”
