People moves for the week ending July 5

The July 4 holiday in the U.S. didn’t tamp down hiring activity this week. New leadership is arriving at L Catterton, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation, Medalist Partners and BNY.

Private Equity

  • L Catterton appointed Miray Topay to partner and head of the firm’s London office, a new position. Topay will work closely with Managing Partner Luigi Feola as well as the firm’s global leadership to capitalize on the opportunities in Europe. She joined from Bain Capital, where she served as a partner in London and co-led the firm’s consumer investing efforts across Europe.
  • Star Mountain Capital added Scott Couto to the team as senior advisor. He brings more than three decades of experience in asset management, most recently as executive vice president and head of North America at Columbia Threadneedle Investments.
  • HighVista Strategies announced a further expansion of the firm’s leadership. Nick Boston (Compliance), Niels Peetz-Larsen (Public Markets), Adam Posner (Public Markets), Ben Radinsky (Private Credit), and Rich Vishton (Finance and Accounting) have been named partners of the firm.
  • Venture capital platform Vintage Investment Partners appointed Ilan Leiferman to the role of chief value-add officer to lead the firm’s Value+ platform. He joins after nearly four years at AWS where he led business development for top-tier VCs and Startups, including building out AWS Cybersecurity global business practice for startups.

At Cantor, he led all fixed income sales and trading globally, as well as headed the investment committee for parts of Cantor Fitzgerald Asset Management.

Wealth Management

  • BNY has appointed Jose Minaya from Nuveen to the role of global head of BNY Investments and Wealth. He joins on Sept. 3 and will report to President and CEO Robin Vince and will serve as a member of the firm’s executive committee. The appointment follows the decision of Hanneke Smit to retire. At Nuveen, Minaya served as president and CIO, overseeing all global operating and investment activities across equities, fixed income, real estate, private markets, natural resources, alternatives and responsible investments.

Service Providers

  • Management consulting firm Bain & Company welcomed Christophe De Vusser as the firm’s new worldwide managing partner (chief executive officer). De Vusser, who was elected to lead Bain in January, becomes the first European to take the role. He joined the firm in 2000 and has worked with Bain’s clients in all geographies.
