Royal Mint launches new range of jewellery made from something you’d never expect

The Welsh site plays a huge part in creating this first-of-its-kind collection

The Royal Mint has created a new range of jewellery made from discarded electronic waste. The Mint has expanded its range of jewellery made from recycled electrical waste to include a new engagement and bridal collection.

The collection includes wedding bands, engagement rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces and is crafted from 18ct gold, sustainably sourced from end-of-life electronic waste and recovered onsite at The Royal Mint’s facility in Llantrisant.

The site recovers precious metals from circuit boards in discarded electronics such as mobile phones and laptops and uses the gold to create jewellery.

Dominic Jones, 886 Creative Director and designer of the collection, said: “The Royal Mint has a remarkable heritage yet continues to evolve in ways that feel truly relevant today.

“Designing the first Engagement and Bridal Collection using recovered gold from electronic waste reflects our commitment to sustainability and innovation, and I’m proud to contribute to a collection where heritage meets sustainable luxury.”

Each piece from the collection is gifted with an X-ray silver Sixpence – a modern take on the traditional good-luck charm, made from silver recycled from medical and industrial X-ray films.

The bridal collection will be available from September 29 at the Burlington Arcade flagship boutique in London and online at 886.royalmint.com.
