Quilter Investors has expanded its manager research team with the appointment of Adrian Todd as a senior manager research analyst.
As part of the increased team, Todd will take on responsibility for researching and analysing funds and investment trusts in the alternative investment universe. This will range from hedge funds to private markets and infrastructure, as well as many other sectors. The funds researched will be considered for inclusion within Quilter Investors’ range of multi-asset portfolios.
Prior to joining Quilter Investors, Todd was a senior research director at Investec Wealth & Investment on its fund research team where he led on alternatives funds, as well as active equity funds. Prior to Investec, Todd worked at Coutts, initially in discretionary portfolio management, before moving onto fund research, where he covered a range of third-party strategies across asset classes and fund structure.
He will report to Kristian Cassar, head of manager research at Quilter Investors.
The expansion of the team comes after it was formed in early 2023 as part of Quilter Investors’ extended research hub. The hub is formed of three teams: the manager research team led by Cassar; an enhanced operational due diligence team headed up by Given Chanetsa-Mazarura; and its existing responsible investing team managed by Marisol Hernandez.
Kristian Cassar, head of manager research at Quilter Investors, said: “Alternatives have become a crucial component within portfolio construction and as a result we want to ensure we have dedicated coverage from experts within the field. The alternatives universe is vast and covers a number of sectors, so we wanted to make it easier for our portfolio managers to search deeper and wider for best-in-class funds and trusts to add to their multi-asset portfolios. Adrian brings valuable experience within alternatives, which will be a real benefit for the team and advisers we work with.”
Adrian Todd, senior manager research analyst at Quilter Investors, added: “I am really excited to be joining Quilter Investors at a time when it is looking to enhance its research capabilities. Alternatives can be complex and challenging but also provide scope for differentiation and long-term outperformance in multi-asset portfolios, so I am looking forward to getting stuck in and providing ideas to the team for potential inclusion within our portfolios.”
