Randel Freeman joins GAM as Co-Head of the new GAM Alternatives division


From July 8, 2024, Randel Freeman will join GAM to work closely with Albert Saporta in developing investment capabilities in the alternative field, assuming the role of Co-Head / Co-CIO of the new specialized division, GAM Alternatives (GAMAlts).

With over 30 years of experience in global hedge fund management, Randel has managed a series of alternative investment funds and managed accounts throughout his career. He has held key roles at SSVL Monaco and Fortress Centaurus Global Fund, among others, before co-founding Centaurus Capital in 2000. He holds several certifications in the field of responsible and alternative investments.

As co-head, Freeman will work with Saporta to expand GAM’s solid investment capabilities, already consolidated in equity and fixed income strategies, introducing GAM Alternatives.

What is GAM Alternatives?

This new platform aims to meet the growing demand from investors for alternative investment strategies, differentiating GAM’s offering and capitalizing on the company’s experience in active management.

  • Growing demand: The global alternative assets market is rapidly growing, with forecasts to reach 24.5 trillion dollars by 2028, according to Preqin.

  • Access to products: Using GAM’s established brand and its solid operational infrastructure, the new division aims to overcome traditional barriers in the sector, offering investors access to sophisticated alternative strategies.

  • Opportunities for retail: Traditionally limited to institutional investors, GAM aims to democratize alternative investments, offering tools such as evergreen and semi-liquid funds to also attract retail investors.
