Anya Taylor-Joy made her Oscars red-carpet debut in the most glamorous way possible.
The Queen’s Gambit star arrived at Los Angeles’s Dolby Theatre in a strapless sequined ball gown courtesy of Dior Haute Couture. The incredible silver-gray piece featured a voluminous skirt covered in layers of bedazzled petal-shaped flaps—a nod to the iconic Junon dress Christian Dior designed for his Fall/Winter 1949–1950 collection. (Natalie Portman wore a similar look to Cannes last year.)
While Taylor-Joy is not nominated tonight, she will take the stage as one of the ceremony’s many A-list presenters. Other presenters include her Dune costar Zendaya, America Ferrera, Bad Bunny, Emily Blunt, Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, and Issa Rae.
This is Taylor-Joy’s first time at the Academy Awards, though she did attend Vanity Fair’s Oscars after-party in 2022. For that, she went for a gothic romantic look in a sheer corseted dress made of gauzy black fabric. She paired the look with a feminine fishnet veil.
Taylor-Joy has had an eventful and fashion-filled past few weeks, in the lead-up to the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, in which she makes an uncredited cameo appearance as Alia Atreides.
At the New York premiere of the epic sci-fi sequel, she pulled a sheer black ball gown layered over a gold slipdress from Maison Margiela’s acclaimed Spring 2024 couture collection, which had just debuted in January.
A Tiffany & Co. ambassador, Taylor-Joy styled the head-turning look with an array of gold- and diamond-encrusted jewelry, from a pair of open hoop earrings to a wraparound bracelet.
