Apollo Tyres Scores Higher in Sustainability, Retains EcoVadis Silver Award

Apollo Tyres Ltd has maintained its commitment to sustainable practices, once again achieving a Silver Award in the EcoVadis Sustainability Excellence ratings. This marks their third consecutive year at the Silver level, demonstrating continuous improvement.

Climbing the Sustainability Ladder

Apollo Tyres’ score has risen steadily over the past three years, jumping from 56 to 70 in the latest assessment. This impressive performance places them within the top 5% of companies globally in the “manufacture of rubber tyres and tubes, retreading and rebuilding of rubber tyres” category.

Overall Improvement Driven by Specific Areas

While their scores in Environment and Ethics remained consistent, significant gains were made in Labour and Human Rights (up 20 points) and Sustainable Procurement (up 10 points). These advancements can be attributed to several key initiatives undertaken by Apollo Tyres:

  • Strengthening Supplier ESG Assessments: Ensuring their suppliers prioritize environmental, social, and governance factors.
  • Empowering Local Communities: Providing livelihood opportunities, particularly for women.
  • Promoting Human Rights Awareness: Training employees on human rights principles.
  • Advanced Sustainability Management Systems: Implementing robust systems to support their sustainability goals.

EcoVadis: A Benchmark for Sustainability

EcoVadis, the world’s leading provider of business sustainability ratings, assesses companies across four key pillars: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Their rating system categorizes companies based on their scores:

  • Platinum: Top 1% (99+ percentile)
  • Gold: Top 5% (95+ percentile)
  • Silver: Top 15% (85+ percentile)
  • Bronze: Top 35% (65+ percentile)

Apollo Tyres’ Silver Award signifies their dedication to sustainable practices throughout their operations. Their ongoing efforts to improve their score and climb the EcoVadis ladder position them as a leader in sustainable tyre manufacturing.
