Rabbi Barry Silver, a longtime prominent community activist, attorney and former state lawmaker, has died at age 67. The temple he co-founded, Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor, announced his death on Thursday.
Silver, who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, was also a notable activist in Palm Beach County who led Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor since 1996.
Silver practiced civil, constitutional and abortion rights, public interest, environmental and personal injury law. In June 2022, he filed a lawsuit against Florida law banning abortions after 15 weeks because it infringed on the constitution’s right to freedom of religion.
