Defense edges offense 21-15 as Nevada wraps Spring ball with Silver and Blue game

The Wolf Pack held its Silver and Blue game on Saturday afternoon at Mackay Field. The action was ushered in by former Wolf Pack standouts Joel Bitonio and Austin Corbett, who held their third annual youth camp just hours before kickoff. The game featured some highlights from both Nevada football’s defense and offense. Nevada’s defense ended up topping the Nevada offense by a final score of 21 to 15. Let’s look at some highlights from today’s Silver and Blue game.

Prior to the game, Nate Burleson Sr. visited with University of Nevada president Brian Sandoval.

Jeff Choate then talked to his team just moments before the kickoff of the Silver and Blue game.

The first big play of the day came when transfer QB Anthony Grigsby Jr. found Nate Burleson Jr. across the middle for a big gain through the air.

The defense dominated the first half of play, as the offense struggled to string drives together. The highlight of the first half came when linebacker Malcolm McClure recovered a Team Silver fumble and took it the other way for six. Here’s a look at the highlight.

Team Blue entered the half leading Team Silver 14-3.

The offense would come out in the second half and get things moving. QB Brendon Lewis got things moving in the third quarter. This completion to WR Cam Zeidler set the Nevada first team offense in the red zone.

Lewis and the offense would find the end zone just a few plays later when former Bishop Manogue standout Marshaun Brown caught a touchdown.

The defense continued its strong day, as yet another Bishop Manogue standout made an impressive PBU on a play in the flat.

Team Blue held a 20-9 lead for a large part of the game until QB AJ Bianco found TE Jayden O’Rourke for touchdown.

The game would end of a somber note, as RB Sean Dollars went down with an apparent neck/head injury in the team’s final red zone period.

We will keep everyone updated on the status of RB Sean Dollars after he was carted off the field to end Nevada’s Silver and Blue game.
