Elliot Vaillancourt of Drummondville, Quebec won the silver medal in a World Cup men’s moguls event in Val St. Come, Quebec on Friday. For Vaillancourt, this was the second time in his career he won a World Cup medal. He won the silver medal at a men’s World Cup in Alpe d’Huez, France on December 15, 2023.

Vaillancourt posted a second place score of 82.37 points in the final. Walter Wallberg of Sweden won the gold medal with a score of 84.92 points. Filip Gravenfors of Sweden won the bronze medal with a score of 77.7 points. Vaillancourt reached the podium by 6.18 points. Ikuma Horishima of Japan finished in fourth place with a score of 76.19 points.

The biggest surprise in the entire event was the fact that Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec did not medal. Kingsbury, who won the gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang and who has won 122 World Cup medals in his remarkable freestyle skiing career, finished in 13th place and did not qualify for the super final.

In the World Cup men’s moguls standings, Vaillancourt is in fifth place with 204 points. Horishima is the World Cup leader with 350 points and Kingsbury has dropped to second place with 340 points. The silver medal for Vaillancourt will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
